What does a simple haircut mean to a child living in displacement?
For the children at the New Kuchingoro IDP Camp in Abuja, it meant confidence, dignity, and joy. From September 2–4, 2024, the Benzone Development Foundation launched a three-day Back-to-School Outreach, delivering free haircuts and hairstyles to over 75 children, preparing them for school and helping ease the financial burden on their families.

The Goal: Confidence, Care, Community
Our Back-to-School Free Haircut and Hairstyling Program was designed to:
- Provide professional grooming to help kids feel school-ready
- Reduce grooming expenses for parents
- Boost self-esteem and social confidence
- Foster community unity through joyful, inclusive experiences
We worked with local barbers and stylists, transforming a community hall into a warm, welcoming salon where every child felt seen and celebrated.
Three Days of Transformation
The camp buzzed with laughter and excitement as over 75 children—70% girls, 30% boys—received fresh hairstyles and clean cuts. We added games, snacks and music to make it a celebration, ensuring hygiene and sanitation were top priority.
